Reference-guided images

Before you start

• One or more authorized visual references.
• A clear explanation of the role of each reference.

How to use this workflow

1. Step 1

   Add references to Image Create using the appropriate identity or asset controls.

2. Step 2

   Explain which subject, product, style, or location should guide the result.

3. Step 3

   Select a model that supports the number and roles of your references, then review whether the result preserved the important details.

What to check

Reference limits and supported identity roles vary by model. A general image reference is not always an identity reference.

Prepare the inputs

• Use references you have permission to process. Remove unrelated or sensitive details before upload.
• Assign each reference a purpose: subject identity, product shape, setting or visual direction. Avoid two conflicting references for the same role.

Choose the right controls

Inspect the selected model’s reference count and roles before adding files. State what to preserve from each image and what the new scene should change. A general image input is not a promise of dedicated identity control.

Troubleshoot the result

1. The subject drifts

   Use a clear, unobstructed subject reference and simplify the requested pose or scene. Compare defining features, not just the overall style. Reuse the approved reference rather than a drifting intermediate result.

2. The wrong reference dominates

   Remove redundant images and describe each remaining role explicitly. Change one part of the reference set at a time so the next result can be assessed against a clear brief.

Continue with an approved result

Keep the approved reference and the chosen result accessible in Gallery or the relevant saved asset controls. Use a focused edit for local corrections; prepare separate frame inputs when continuing into video.
