How to use this workflow
Step 1
Open the source in Image Edit.
Step 2
Describe one coherent change, such as lighting, color, or a background detail.
Step 3
Compare the result with the original and check untouched areas before continuing to another edit.
What to check
A broad editing prompt can change more of the image than intended. Use inpainting when a localized mask is appropriate.
Prepare the inputs
- Keep the original image and identify the smallest change that would solve the problem.
- Describe both the desired change and the important unchanged features: subject, crop, identity, text and lighting.
Choose the right controls
Use Image Edit for a prompt-led change. Use Inpaint when the selected tool supports a mask and the correction is local. Check source-image and reference support before choosing the model; an image generator and an editing workflow may accept different inputs.
Troubleshoot the result
The background or subject changed unexpectedly
Return to the original, reduce the prompt to one coherent edit and use a supported local mask where appropriate. Compare untouched areas as carefully as the edited area.
The patch has a visible seam
Inspect lighting, texture, shadows and edge continuity around the changed region. Include enough surrounding context for the edit and avoid repeatedly editing an increasingly distorted intermediate result.
Continue with an approved result
Save the approved revision alongside the original. Correct text separately if needed, then resize or upscale the finished composition before reusing it as a video starting frame.
